Can I self-monitor with a DSC NEO system?
Yes. While the PowerSeries NEO does not have as many options as the previous generation or the Honeywell Vista systems, there are still a few options.
First, a dialer such as the Visonic DL-125C can still be used with a landline and triggered by a PGM on the NEO system. While this may not be ideal for many people as landline phones disappear and people expect more than a simple pre-recorded voice call, it is still a viable option at a low price point.
Next, would be to use a universal communicator like the IPDatatel BAT CDMA that can capture the message sent by the built-in dialer on the security panel. You can then setup text, email, or automated voice calls. This service does require a subscription.
By far the best option for the PowerSeries NEO to self-monitor, when looking solely at available features, is to use an Alarm.com communicator with one of their interactive service plans. The NEO is fully compatible with all of Alarm.com’s features by adding an Alarm.com NEO communicator like the CD8080VZ. Through Alarm.com you can set up custom notifications and control the alarm system from any internet enabled device with their app or website. Both have a great, easy to use interface. One the biggest draws to their service is their integration with devices beyond the alarm to give people a truly smart home security experience. They can be connected to various home automation devices and services such as many Z-Wave devices or MyQ garage door openers. They can also integrate Alarm.com video surveillance equipment, including video doorbells, so that Alarm.com the potential to become the one-stop service to control almost everything in your home.
