The PowerG IQ Water Valve is a Z-wave device used to remotely actuate a water valve in your home. The unit itself attaches to your incoming water line to your home on a ball valve, and once connected to your Z-wave network can be used to control the water into your home by actuating the valve. The IQ Water Valve does NOT work with gate valves, so be sure to check the type of valve your home water lines use. Check the manual below for the IQ Water Valve if you need a visual on the valve types. The unit also requires an outlet nearby for AC power to the IQ water Valve.
In addition to the IQ Water Valve, this kit also includes 2 PG9985 PowerG flood detectors that will pair with your IQ panel or DSC NEO system. These can be used as normal flood sensors for the system, or if you have automation you can use the flood sensors as triggers for when the IQ Water Valve needs to shut the valve. This makes the IQ Water Valve a much more affordable option for water management in your home compared to some home water automation setups.
Connecting the IQ Water Valve is a simple process, all you need to do is close the water valve, place the unit over the valve, and secure it to the pipe using the leg clamps. Once placed on the water valve and powered up, a few presses of the button on the front face will have your IQ Water Valve installed and ready to enroll on your Z-wave network. When using Alarm.com automation, rules can be created to control when the IQ Water Valve will close your water line and may be controlled independently through the Alarm.com app.

I have PEX lines with the standard brass ball valve on the PEX, with the valve and lines exposed on the walls of my basement. Will the PEX provide enough support?
The IQ Water Valve weighs only weighs about 1.3 pounds, so as long as your PEX is secured well to the wall then it should be more than fine. If you do notice any sag or leaning after attaching the device, you can just add a brace near the valve on the PEX and that should alleviate any issues.

Does this have a batter pack up in case of a power outage?
No it does not.

Does this device connect to the main water line and monitor the flow of water throughout the whole home and, when the flow is irregular (signaling a leak), automatically shut the water off to the entire home?
It does not. This is basically just a valve, and is can be triggered manually, or when a flood sensor like the PG9985 is triggered. If you use Alarm.com with the panel in quetion you are also able to remotely operate the device.

Will this Device work on the Total Connect Platform with a Tuxedo Keypad?
No it will not. It only works with systems that support Power G wireless such as Qolsys and DSC Neo.

Can this be used with DSC Neo panels if they have Z-Wave & PowerG transceivers?
You will need to have Alarm.com for the automation platform, but yes, both the PowerG sensors and the IQ water valve will work with a DSC NEO system.
